The film is sometimes uncomfortable to watch, given the sexual innuendos between food, which is also why it works. ‘Sausage Party‘ received critical praise for its humor, animation, writing, and voice acting and earned a rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes and 66 out of 100 on Metacritic. At the box office, it also made a profit of $140.7 million against a budget of $19 million.

The commercial and critical success it achieved would surely make the production company interested in giving the green light to a sequel. Rogen has stated that he would like to take the director’s chair to direct the sequel, especially since it is an animated comedy for adults. Although there has been no comment on the sequel since then, we can still make speculations about the as-yet-untitled sequel.

Sausage Party 2 Plot: What is it about?

Sausage Party 2 Plot: What is it about?

The ‘Sausage Part’ sequel would surely build on the characters and premise that the first film has already established so well. Like the ‘Toy Story film series, ‘Sausage Party 2’ would likely focus on another adventure directed by Frank the Sausage.

However, one challenging situation the sequel finds itself in is how it plays out in the end credits scene, in which the characters realize they are in a movie, and they all go to meet their creators. This could also help create a postmodern narrative where they are aware of their imaginative existence but still address a fictional narrative. In an interview, Seth Rogen stated that like ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’, one of his favorite films, the sequel could merge the animated characters with live-action. Venturing down this path would be interesting, as the creators would have to balance not one but two strange worlds.

Sausage Party 2 Cast: Who Could Participate?

Sausage Party 2 Cast: Who Could Participate?

Kristen Wiig starred in the third ‘ How to Train Your Dragon’ film franchise, titled ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’ in early 2019 and also appears in Richard Linklater’s comedy-drama ‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette,’ scheduled for release in August 2019. He has two more films: Patty Jenkins’ superhero movie. ‘Wonder Woman 1984′ listed for release in 2020, is busy filming the Gil Kenan-directed family film ‘A Boy Called Christmas’. The actress is also developing the Fox animated comedy series ‘Bless the Harts,’ scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2019. With two projects in production and one in post-production, Wiig can take some time for the Sausage Party sequel.

Jonah Hill, who made his managerial debut with ‘Mid90s’ (2018), had just released the stoner comedy film ‘The Beach Bum’ this year. Bill Hader has two more films scheduled for 2019: the horror ‘It’s Chapter Two’ and the fantasy adventure ‘Noelle,’ which are in their production and post-production stages. He also essays the role of the protagonist in the HBO dark comedy series ‘Barry’ (2018-). The actor is full of work, and most likely, he will join the film after the completion of these films.

Seth Rogen, James Franco Comedy

James Franco is busy with several projects. He has three films in the pipeline that he is directing. The actor and filmmaker has ‘Zeroville’ released in 2019, and has already announced two more films, the indie drama ‘The Long Home’ and the biopic ‘Bukowski,’ which are in their post-production stages. He also has a few releases in which he stars: ‘Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad,’ ‘Kill the Czar’ and ‘The Long Home’.

Michael Cera, who has played notable roles in several critically acclaimed comedies over the past decade, only has one film in 2019, an action-adventure comedy titled ‘Blazing Samurai,’ in post-production.

It is evident that most actors are busy with other projects. However, since Sausage Party 2 would only require these actors to record voices. We can hope that they can find the time.

Sausage Party 2 Crew: Who Could Be Behind This?

After the completion and release of ‘Sausage Party,’ voice actor and director Conrad Vernon. Directed a movie, the animated horror comedy ‘The Addams Family,’ which will be released in 2019. Furthermore, in 2017, he signed with Warner Bros. to direct the ‘Jetsons’ remake that has not yet begun filming.

Studios may want to look for a new director to get started in 2020. However, Irish-Canadian filmmaker Greg Tiernan’s position is a bit complicated. The entertainer has been accused of mistreatment by ‘Sausage Party’ employees, who said he made them work overtime without pay. Several prominent publications picked up the accusation. Since then, Tiernan has been silent and has no films or appearances for premieres. With the absence of the two filmmakers, ‘Sausage Party’ could very well  direct by Seth Rogen himself.

Alan Menken has recently emerged as one of the top music composers for franchise pictures and animated features. He finished composing the score for Guy Ritchie’s musical fantasy picture ‘Aladdin’ (2019). He has signed on as composer for Rob Marshall’s “The Little Mermaid” remakes and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Christopher Lennertz, the second composer of ‘Sausage Party,’ has multiple projects in the works for the future years. As a result, it will be intriguing to watch whether the creators employ. New composers or wait for Menken and Lennertz to return.
